STUART Hogg’s amazing season got even better on Sunday when he was named the RaboDirect PRO12 Young Player of the Year.

It is an outstanding achievement for the 19-year-old who can add the latest accolade to a season that included his first professional contract, four caps for Scotland, a home debut try against France and the young player of the year and players’ young player of the year awards for Glasgow Warriors.

Hogg, who fought off strong competition from Scarlets No8 Ben Morgan and Leinster’s Ian Madigan, received the gong at an awards ceremony in Cardiff on Sunday night.

Warriors managing director Nathan Bombrys said: “Stuart thoroughly deserves to be named young player of the year. He has been consistently excellent for us, and has the potential to develop into an even more fantastic asset in the years ahead.

“The quality of player in the RaboDirect PRO12 is such that he has beaten off some very strong competition for the award, and that’s testament to the form he has shown for Glasgow Warriors.”
