HAWICK president Rory Bannerman has issued an urgent appeal for supporters to turn out in their numbers next weekend.

The Greens face Hamilton tomorrow at Laigh Bent, where victory could set up a virtual title decider next Saturday against Glasgow Hawks at Mansfield Park.

Hawick are currently at the top of the National League, ten points ahead of Hawks who have three games in hand.

Mr Bannerman said: “The upcoming match with Glasgow Hawks is one of the most important games for Hawick in recent years – it could decide if we are to get back into the Premiership and take our place with the best teams in Scotland again.

“The Hawick support is probably the best in the country – now let’s prove it. We want to fill the grandstand with Greens supporters and give the team the biggest boost possible. We want a wall of cheering, green-clad supporters to raise the roof for Hawick.”

Entry to the match will be reduced to £5 to everyone who comes to the game dressed in green, while all under-18s will be admitted free.

Mr Bannerman added: “Bring your family and friends and have a fun afternoon doing your bit for the players.

“Look out those green scarves, hats, jerseys and jackets and get down to Mansfield and help us win.”
