Awoman found with more than £2,000 worth of cannabis in her home has escaped a prison sentence at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Clare Parker, 40, pleaded guilty to the offence which happened after police raided her home in Wilson Drive on August 10 last year.
Her lawyer Bryan Templeton said she had allowed someone else to leave the bag in her home and although she was aware it contained drugs, she was not aware of the quantity.
Sheriff Kevin Drummond told the single mother she was fortunate she was only facing a charge of drug possession given that the cannabis found had a potential value of £2,440.
He imposed a sentence of 160 hours’ unpaid work as part of a Community Payback Order.
