Primary six and seven Drumlanrig school pupils travelled to see Michael Morpurgo’s War Horse at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh recently.

The youngsters are studying World War One as their topic next term. The story recounts the experiences of Joey, a horse bought by the Army for service during the 1914-1918 conflict, and the attempts of young Albert, his previous owner, to bring him home safely.

The play was produced by the National Theatre and the children enjoyed watching the puppeteers tell the story
