Trial date set for Burnfoot vandalism accused

A HAWICK teenager has denied a total of 22 charges mainly involving spray painting property in the town’s Eildon Road and Burnhead Road.

Christopher Rodgers, 16, of Eildon Road, pleaded not guilty at Jedburgh Sheriff Court to breaking two windows at Burnfoot Community School on October 10.

On October 22 he is alleged to have stolen two cans of spray paint from an address in Eildon Road. He is then accused of 17 counts of spray painting vehicles, a wall, a fence and a hedge in the two streets.

It is also alleged that Rodgers entered an insecure car in Galalaw Road and stole a satellite navigation system.

Rodgers pleaded not guilty and a trial was fixed for April 18 with an intermediate hearing scheduled on March 22.
