Police have warned householders to take care

Police are appealing for witnesses after thieves were disturbed during a break-in at a property in Newcastleton.

The incident happened in Whitchester Lane around 11.45pm on Friday, when the suspects broke into an outbuilding in the garden of the property and stole a laptop. However, they were disturbed by the occupier before they could steal anything else.

Anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officers are particularly keen to trace a white motorhome-style vehicle which was seen outside the property.
