Opposition to new pharmacy

PLANS to open a pharmacy at Burnfoot got a cool reception from one local councillor this week.

Elixir Healthcare Ltd has applied to open the chemist’s in Kenilworth Avenue and the application went out to consultation on November 29 – interested parties are being asked to submit comments by January 28.

But Burnfoot councillor Stuart Marshall told the Hawick News this week: “Crosby’s Chemist provides a brilliant service to the people of Burnfoot. They deliver to anyone at any time of the day and have done so for many years.

“I’m not in favour of someone else coming along to take business away from a local chemist who provides an excellent service. I have made my views on this clear to the relevant people. As far as I am concerned the current service is more than adequate.”

Comments should by made in writing to Alison McNeillage, Primary Care Contracts Manager, Primary Care Contractor Organisation, NHS Lothian Pentland House, (Ground Floor) 47 Robb’s Loan, Edinburgh EH14 1T.
