AN AWARD-WINNING play will be previewed in Hawick before hitting the stage at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival.
The List – which scooped a Governor General’s Award – is a deeply moving one woman play by celebrated Québec dramatist Jennifer Tremblay, and will be performed at the Tower Mill auditorium on Tuesday, July 31.
The show stars critically-acclaimed actress Maureen Beattie (27, The Enquirer), is directed by Muriel Romanes and has a creative team that includes Scottish artist John Byrne
Set in Québec, The List tells the story of a woman struggling to adjust to rural life. Increasingly isolated, she keeps life in order through obsessive list making. As her marriage struggles she befriends Caroline. When Caroline requests a favour she adds it to her list. The difference between remembering to do it, and neglecting to take it seriously, becomes the difference between life and death.
Tickets for the performance, which lasts around an hour, are £9 and available from the Tower Mill box office.
There will be an audience Q&A with the director, Muriel Romanes, after the performance.
