Toe-tapping ceilidh set to raise cash for Cuba trip

HIGH school pupil Liam Ramage is hoping a charity ceilidh will hit the right note as he raises funds for an expedition to Cuba next year.

The fifth-year student is part of the Border Exploration Group, who will be helping to support a local community project in the Caribbean country.

Each member must raise £2,000 for the trip and, to contribute towards his total, Liam is holding a ceilidh with the Iain Lowthian Band in the high school on Friday, September 23, from 7pm until 11pm.

He said: “This promises to be a really good night and I hope people will come along and enjoy the evening while helping to support my fund-raising.”

Tickets for the event, priced £7.50, with supper included, are available from the school office and The Honey Pot on the High Street, with concessions priced £6.50. A licensed bar will also be available.
