One of Scotland’s most revered singer/songwriters comes to the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels, on June 17.
Dougie MacLean, has built an international reputation as songwriter, composer and extraordinary performer which has led to concerts and festivals all over the world including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall and London’s Festival Theatre.
His ending of the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow (with Kylie Minogue and Lulu) was viewed by over a billion people worldwide!
In this show he will be helping to highlight the high standard of musical talent available in the Scottish Borders. The first of these local talents on stage will be Millie Hanlon Cole, a massively-talented singer/songwriter from Peebles. Millie attends Peebles High School and has song-writing abilities well above her years.
Also on stage is local band Mills, formed in 2015 from other Borders bands. They are already making headway in the Scottish music industry, being signed by Vertical Records and recording with Donald Shaw, founder member of Capercaillie and artistic director at Celtic Connections, Scotland’s biggest music festival.
