THE Congregational Church will be alive to the sound of music on Saturday.
The incredibly popular annual hymnalong/hymnathon is returning to the venue for the third year and members of the public are being urged to go along and take part, or just listen to the wide selection of songs.
Once again Jean Hogg will be at the helm of the organ as she works her magic for a mammoth session of two hour’s worth of well loved hymns, which could include the likes of ‘Abide with me’, ‘Amazing Grace’, ‘All things bright and beautiful’ and ‘Guide me oh thou great redeemer’.
Church development worker Geraldine Strickland told the Hawick News this week: “Everyone is welcome to sing, listen with a coffee, or sponsor a favourite hymn between 10am and 12noon.
“It is an informal event, which has proven very enjoyable in the past and tea and coffee will also be available.”
All the proceeds from the charity event will go to support the church’s community project Reaching Out.
