A PROMOTER aiming to establish Hawick on the comedy circuit is bringing a star of Father Ted to perform at the Weensland Function Suite.
Eric Scarboro has announced that his third comedy show in Hawick will feature former Father Ted actor, and comedy circuit regular, Michael Redmond (pictured).
The ‘Ha Ha Hawick’ promoter told the Hawick News: “I worked with Michael in the 80s and 90s, long before he became famous for his part in Father Ted. He was fabulous then and has just got better over the years.”
Michael is well-remembered as Father Stone who visited Craggy Island, but couldn’t be got rid of, after being hit by lightning. Eric added: “Michael has thousands of comedy gigs under his belt, with his own weekly show at The Stand in Glasgow, ‘Michael Redmond’s Sunday Service’.”
Eric, who comperes the shows, is also hoping to bring a couple of new comedians from Glasgow, and an old friend from Tyneside. He added: “I’m hoping to establish Hawick on the circuit and if I can do that, I’ll be able to bring just about any comedian in Britain here. It’s just up to the people of Hawick to come out and back me.”
This show is on Friday May 6, doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets available from the venue on 371137, priced £8/£6.
