The next concert in the summer series from the Borders Music and Arts Society at Mellerstain is on August 11 and will feature husband and wife Marcus Barcham and Christina Lawrie.
This is the opportunity for anyone who has read “The Kreutzer Sonata” by Leo Tolstoy to actually hear Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata.
Marcus is co-leader of the Britten Sinfonia and a member of the Fitzwilliam String Quartet, and has guest led the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Aurora Orchestra and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, as well as broadcasting as a soloist on BBC Radio 3. He has performed chamber music with, among others, Freddy Kempf, Peter Donohoe, Paul Lewis and Alina Ibragimova.
Christina Lawrie has performed as solo recitalist in live BBC Radio 3 and Radio Scotland broadcasts and concerts for the Wigmore Hall, Cheltenham Music Festival, the Purcell Room, South Bank Centre, St George’s, Bristol and Perth Concert Hall. She made her debut as soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 2009 and has won a host of accolades.
Tickets cost £17.50 (members £13.50). A finger buffet and wine served after the concert costs an additional £7.50. For more information and to book, call 01835 864153, or email email@example.com
