A special screening of The Sting will take place at The Heart of Hawick tonight (February 6) in aid of Scottish Borders Link of Chernobyl Children Lifeline.
Tickets priced £8 (including a glass of wine) are available from the venue and the charity.
The local link was set up in 2001 and it has hosted 108 children and raised more than £50,000 to support nine summer visits, when the children have enjoyed the benefits of healthy living away from the radioactive climate that they live in, and improvements to their health – medical opinion says that this month’s break add two years to their lives.
The charity has been supported by host families throughout the Borders.
Being a voluntary organisation, members always come and go, and new members are always welcome. Anyone interested in helping or getting more information should contact chairman Fraser Simm on 01578 730297.
The film, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman, starts at 6.45pm for 7pm. Call Heart of Hawick for tickets on 01450 360680, or Mr Simm on the number above.
