EIGHT Hawick ASC members bagged a haul of medals at a recent gala for Border swimming clubs at Teviotdale Leisure Centre.

They were all competing in the 9-11 age group, and the first event was the 50m back crawl in which Abbie Jeffrey won the silver medal with a very impressive swim.

Hot on her heels was Lyall Hodgins, who secured gold with a determined swim.

In the 50m front crawl, Jenna Amos added to the medal tally with a bronze, while Rhys Tait grabbed gold with an excellent swim.

The 100m relays were next and in the 100m freestyle, the girls’ team of Abbie, Jenna, Lisa Murphy and Rhiann Ferguson notched a silver medal in a hotly-contested race.

The girls then took four silvers in the 100m medley relay in the closest finish of the competition. In the relay events for boys, the team of Lyall, Rhys, Gavin Mitchell and Greg Lowrie struck gold in the 100m freestyle and 100m medley.

Hawick ASC would like to thank Borders Sport and Leisure Trust and the leisure centre for hosting this event.
