Teviotdale to bring down curtain at Tweedbank

Teviotdale Indoor Bowling Club travel to Tweedbank for their last league fixture on Saturday. Minibus from the Leisure Centre at 12 noon.

Brownlee, S. Anderson and A. Brady (skip). Rink 4, A. Taylor, R. Paxton, D. Reid and B. Anderson (skip). Reserves: M. Hogarth, J. Smyth, K. McCartney, F. Donaldson, M. Notman, B. Gray, J. Thomson and D. Baillie.

Teviotdale travel to East Lothian for their second round tie in the Team Championship against Alloa. Bus leaves the Leisure Centre at 11.45am.

A TOTAL of 16 combinations were entered for the Beatties Open Fours on Saturday at Teviotdale Indoor Stadium. The event was a round robin of three games of six ends, with respotted jacks for burnt ends, the top quartet in each section qualifying for the knockout stages.

The top squads were John Darling, David Reid, Andrew Kyle and Bill Anderson (skip); Gordon Scott, Steve Purves, Bill Scott and Stuart White (skip) of Kelso; Alistair Taylor, Alex Martin, Caroline and Mark Hogarth (skip); and John Taylor, Robbie Lindores, Doug Munro and Euan Lindores (skip) of Jedburgh.

In the semi-final match between the White and Lindores squads both sides won three of the six ends but the Kelso men won 5-3.Another tight contest saw the Hogarth-led side defeating Anderson’s team by 4-3.

Gordon Scott, Purves, Bill Scott and White won the first end of the final but Hogarth’s men hit back with a count of three. The White- led side won the next three heads to lead 4-3 with an end to play, but Hogarth’s side were not to be denied, winning the last end with a count of two shots to win 5-4.

SECOND round games in the Pub League this Sunday are – G. Smith v Waverley Bar; Wilton v Lodge 111 and H. Bell v Mansfield Bar.
