TARA Mactaggart was back in the swing of things for more success at the weekend – this time by winning the Border girls’ matchplay title at Duns.
The young Minto golfer, who plays off a handicap of two, drove the ball very well throughout, sank several key 20-foot putts, and stuck to her game plan of taking one hole at a time.
She beat Kelso’s Leanne Wilson, the beaten finalist in the Border Ladies’ Championship, by 3&1 in the morning semi-final, and then went on to defeat Danni Kerr, from the Roxburghe, in the final by 2&1.
“Things are really starting to come together for me,” said Tara. “I’m finally starting to have much more belief in myself, and I’m delighted to be the Border girls’ matchplay champion.”
Tara, who won the South of Scotland girls’ championship earlier this month, is in action this weekend at the University of St Andrews girls’ tournament over the Strathtyrum and Jubilee courses.
