Although the Burnfoot boys were heavily beaten, there were still a lot of positives for them to take from Saturday’s match.
Up against the current Scottish under-18 champions, the young Teries were under no illusions as to how tough the game would be, and in the first half they had no answer to the pace and ball skills of the Jed players.
But this PSA side never give up and as the game wore on they started to win some ball of their own, but their inexperience saw them lose possession at vital times.
The coaches will take a lot of positives from the second half display, though, and can build on this.
A PSA spokesperson said: “We’ve have had a tough start, playing two of the strongest teams in the country. But the spirit in the squad is fantastic and they are starting to gel, working for each other.
“This is a very young squad with almost all the players still eligible to play under-18 rugby next season.”
