WITH arguably the youngest side of the tournament, Hawick Wanderers made it to the final of Langholm Sevens on Saturday.

The Volunteer Park outfit comfortably dispatched of a select side 41-7 in their opening pool match.

And they followed this up with a 26-19 win over Duns Colts thanks to some good hard graft and a cracking interception try from Ryan Elliot.

As group winners that saw them progress into the semi-final against Kelso Harlequins, where they saved their best performance of the day.

The three forwards put in a tough shift and Fraser Renwick and Darcy Graham both caught the eye as the Wands ran out 24-14 winners.

In the final the Hawick boys met Gala Wands, who had earlier defeated one of the favourites Selkirk. With the game poised at 17-19 to the Maroons, the wind appeared to disappear from the Wands’ sails and Gala ran in another 29 unanswered points to take the title 48-17.

n HAWICK PSA did not enter a team for the tournament.
