Hawick captain Rory Hutton is targeting back-to-back wins for the Greens following their 36-16 victory over Boroughmuir on Saturday, writes Alexander McLeman.
Speaking to the Hawick News ahead of tomorrow’s match at home to Currie, Hutton highlighted the work that had been done on the training pitch before the Boroughmuir clash.
“The sessions were intense and hard but we got our reward,” he said. “We were mainly working on getting our self belief back as we know we are capable of beating anyone but we hadn’t shown it in our losses with a lack of energy costing us big.
“The victory was great but it’s now about racking up the wins and making sure we’re moving forward. We need to back up our performances by recording consecutive wins.”
Alluding to Hawick’s poor performances following their two other wins this season, Hutton emphasised. “We need to avoid the same mistakes that have cost us after our previous victories.”
“We haven’t been able to record back-to-back wins and get that consistency to get near the top of the table. But we know what to expect from Currie and hopefully a win will get us right back in the hunt for a play-off place.”
