STUART Hogg’s sensational year will reach even greater heights this afternoonas he lines up against world champions New Zealand.
The 20-year-old, who made his Scotland debut in this year’s 6 Nations campaign, will start at full-back in front of a sell-out crowd at Murrayfield in the first of three autumn Tests.
And he told the Hawick News he can’t wait. He said: “I’m really looking forward to playing New Zealand at Murrayfield, there is no better challenge than playing the world champions on our home turf.
“I’m delighted to have been selected at full-back and can’t wait to run out in front of a packed stadium.”
As a mark of how far the former Greens prodigy has come, the last time the All Blacks came calling, two years ago, he was invited to a training session with the men from the Southern Hemisphere as part of his development.
He said this week: “It was ridiculous. I just remember rocking up in the morning and seeing the likes of Dan Carter, Sonny Bill Williams, Richie McCaw. It was unbelievable. It was great to have the experience of training with them. I had to take a backward step and pinch myself thinking ‘Am I really here?’”
