Hawick Wanderers’ coaching team for the coming season will be headed up by Gerry McGuinness, who will be assisted by Ryan Halliday and Fergus Hislop.
McGuinness returns to the Volunteer where he had a number of successful years as Wands head coach from 2002-2009, which included winning three championship titles and the national youth cup.
The Borders Semi-Junior League kicks off on September 5, and preparations for the new campaign include a warm-up game against Currie Colts, a visit from the club’s old friends Wellington School from Somerset, and a round robin-tournament at Wilton Lodge Park, with Biggar, Boroughmuir and Dumfries all agreeing to play, subject to their under-18 league not starting earlier than September 5.
Pre-season training starts on Tuesday at 6.30pm at the Volunteer with fitness coaches Johnny Paxton and Gary Wilson. After that, the next few sessions will be held at the Miller’s Knowes.
