Devastating Quins floor Forresters

Forresters 7

Forresters visited Wilton Lodge Park on Saturday having won the corresponding fixture last season and two of their last three games against East League 1 opponents.

Quins were keen to maintain their 100 per cent record this season and in the first minute stole a Forresters lineout.

Captain Gavin Douglas made a break from his own half before offloading to Scott Peffers, who run in for an excellent try, which he also converted.

The home side kept up the momentum with scrum-half, Neil Anderson, varying the play with clever kicks into the Forresters half.

The Baker Street men entertained the crowd with some stylish running rugby and found themselves 28-0 up after 20 minutes through tries from Graeme Lothian, Finlay Robb and Neil Douglas which were all converted by Peffers.

Forresters showed great character and their powerful forwards battered their way to the Quins 22.

They were on the verge of scoring when Adam Hall intercepted and run 90 metres for a classy try which Peffers converted.

The visitors continued to press and scored a well-deserved try before Keith McNeil scored his first try for the Quins racing in from 20 metres. Peffers added the extra points.

Peffers and Lothian added their second tries before half time to give their side a 52-7 lead at the interval.

In the second half Sam Bandeen came to life with a run in a hat-trick of tries including a brilliant individual score from 70 metres.

Peffers and Lothian also completed their hat-tricks. Up front, the home pack were on top at the set piece and in the loose producing quick ball for their backs.

Jordan Hyslop and Ricki Kiore run strongly and Kiore scored a well deserved try with five minutes left

Gavin Douglas who set up the first try, scored the last one to cap one of the best Quins performances in recent years.

Adam Hall added two second half conversions and Peffers kicked three in the second half for an individual tally of 33 points.

All 19 players contributed in a free-flowing display and a bonus point win leaves Quins with maximum points this season.

The players are keen to continue this run on the
East coast this weekend when they face last year’s league runners-up North Berwick.
