Derby days for Greens fans in revamped cup

GREENS fans can look forward to more local derbies after fixtures for the Border League and revamped RBS Cup were announced this week.

The RBS Cup Competition will be played between the seven premier clubs in the South district, which will also double up as Border League fixtures. The winner of the regional competition will then qualify for a semi-final along with other district winners in Scotland from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Caledonia.

The Border League will be played in two pools of five with a final on a date in April 2012.

In the Border League, Hawick have been drawn in Pool B alongside Selkirk, Jed-Forest, Haddington and Berwick.

Greens secretary John Thorburn said: “I think everybody is looking forward to more home games and more Saturday local derbies. Hopefully the crowds will come out for these matches.”

FIXTURES – November 12: Hawick v Selkirk – RBS Cup and BL; November 19: Kelso v Hawick – RBS Cup; December 3: Peebles v Hawick – RBS Cup; December 10: Gala v Hawick – RBS Cup; December 17: Hawick v Berwick – BL; December 26: Hawick v Jed-Forest – RBS Cup and BL; Haddington v Hawick – BL; February 4: Hawick v Melrose – RBS Cup.
