Hawick Albion62

WITH the sun shining Hawick put in a bright performance to ease past Peebles on Sunday.

The home side opened the scoring after six minutes with Greg Scott going over in the corner after some excellent support play.

Hawick’s forwards were playing some good strong rugby as Peebles put up a valiant defence. However, with good support play from the backs the ball was passed out to Lewis Ferguson who scored the second try of the game.

Peebles were not to be outdone though and came back at Hawick. And after some good play, they scored under the posts with a converted try.

Hawick responded with a lovely converted try from Robbie McLean, soon followed by Sean Chapman after a great run, who scored in the corner.

Peebles came back at Hawick and scored another converted try.

But the hosts maintained their superiority over proceedings and Dean Gillan went over for a try which ended the first half.

From the start of the second half Hawick continued to play excellent rugby and soon after the kick-off Logan Gordon Woolley scored a lovely try followed by a second try from Gillan after he displayed some neat footwork.

Matthew Mallin went over after a great run and soon after notched his second try of the match, which was swiftly followed by Greg Scott’s second try.

All Peebles could muster was a single try in the second half.
