LAST Monday night saw the staging of the Border singles qualifier in which several local lads showed their class, with no less than seven players qualifying. Mid, Bomber and Colin Drummond got through from the Station Bar team, along with the High Level duo of Trigger Hume and Terry Storie, and the Waverley’s Steven Bell and John Jardine. There were a few high-profile league players knocked out so there’s a good chance the trophy will be returning to Hawick.
On the international scene, Mid got the call to represent Scotland in the European singles in Blackpool in February, when he will join teammate Bomber, who won the Station Bar pool comp last Saturday to make it three in a row. The next competition, for which entries will be on a first come first served basis, will be on February 9. Names can be given to Mid.
