Hawick’s hard-hitting heavyweight Tom Robson makes the trip to Motherwell’s Ravenscraig Sports Facility to take part in the preliminary rounds of the Scottish Heavyweight Championships.
Tom, 27, who farms at Yetholm, makes the thrice weekly trip to train with the Hawick Club at the Thinkfitness gym in O’Connell Street.
Tom has had four bouts for the Hawick club and his record shows two wins and two losses.
And although in boxing terms he’s still regarded as a novice he’s looking forward to the experience.
Speaking to the Hawick News this week, Tom said: “I know I have only had the four fights and I am still a novice compared to some of the lads in my class who have had 20, 30 or even more fights but I need to find out where I am.
“If I can compete agaist these lads I will be really pleased. I’m looking forward to it.”
And commenting on Robson’s Scottish championship bid, coach Gareth Walker said: “Tom has been putting some serious sessions in at the gym.
“He is razor sharp and is in excellent shape and is punching very hard.
“Everyone at the club is looking forward to this weekend. Tom has a great attitude and I am convinced he’ll do well.”
