Friday’s Rosalee Pairs final saw Hawick Bowling Club’s Joyce Dickey and Margaret Todd emerge victorious by 18 shots to nine against Buccleuch’s Caroline Hogarth and Helen Chamberlain.

With some very good bowls played by both pairs, it was the Hawick duo who seized the early initiative and took a 13 shots to one lead at the sixth end. Over the next three heads, Buccleuch put a run together before they were halted in their tracks on the 10th end, at which point Hawick scored a 2, 1 and 1 to lead 17-6 at the 12th head. With ends running out, the Buccleuch girls added to their account over the next two ends, but Hawick responded on the last head to complete the scoring.

The prizes were presented by Hawick club vice-president, Martin Christy jnr, while thanks went to the Rosalee committee, the greenkeeper, and Waverley Bar, which has sponsored the competition for the last three years.

The beaten semi-finalists were Alison Clarkson and Irene Wilson, Hawick, and Mary Martin and Fiona Morrison, Buccleuch.
