On Saturday, the four-rink Teviotdale gents’ team travelled to Berwickshire, and once again player unavailability saw several changes being made to the Teri squad. However, following their success the week before against Cumbernauld they were still hopeful of a positive result.
After seven of the 21 ends the Teries were 31-17 in arrears, but following the same amount of heads again they had edged 54-56 in front. The visitors then extended their advantage to four shots (67-71) after 18 ends had been contested. The home team were not to be outdone, though, and over the last 12 ends they added 19 shots to their total with only six in Teviotdale’s favour to earn a narrow 86-77 victory.
Top squad for the leisure centre side comprised Charlie Paterson, Dennis Poloczek, Martin Christy and A. J. Kyle (skip). Details: M. Hogarth 19 D. Kerr 20; A. Brady 16 R. Paterson 24; C. Macdougall 20 G. Forsyth 22; A. J. Kyle 22 J. Mitchell 20.
Last Wednesday, Teviotdale’s senior men tasted defeat at home by Midlothian by 42 shots to76. Best and only rink up for the hosts were A. Dickson, O. Gibson, B. Jaffray and K. McCartney (skip) 18-15.
