Roxburgh Reivers’ Karen Maxwell had the honour of being team captain for the junior orienteering home internationals in South Wales at the weekend when, unfortunately, the Scottish team couldn’t quite get the better of England and finished in second place ahead of Wales and Ireland.
A small group of club members headed to Oban for the fifth round of the Scottish league, and with storms overnight some courses were shortened due to rising stream levels, and on the day conditions varied from torrential rain to sunny blue skies. No local winners this time but some good results nonetheless, with John Tullie and Lindsey Knox second in their age classes, Ian Maxwell third, and Kirstin Maxwell fourth.
The next club event is at Gala Hill on September 28. More details at www.roxburghreivers.org.uk
