Hawick and Wilton’s 120 for seven earned them victory over Melrose in last Thursday night’s Border T20 League match.
The Teries’ main contributors were Gary Alexander who made 44 and Christo Beukes who scored 34 from 24 balls in an innings that included six boundaries.
Ronan Alexander and Bruce Mactaggart both notched 11, with Will Owen (3-7) and Josh Loftus (2-8) the pick of the bowlers for the hosts. In reply, Melrose fell 30 runs short of their target, finishing 90 for nine with Thomas Brown top-scoring on 19. Loftus made 15, with Murray and Scott unbeaten on 15 and 10 as the Buccleuch Park men ran out comfortable victors.
Beukes starred with the ball as he took three wickets and conceded only nine runs in an excellent spell, while Neil Storey and Gary Alexander each claimed a brace, and Morgan Tait and Ronan Alexander one wicket apiece.
