Hawick badminton ace Martin Goldie was part of the 12-strong Borders under-14 team who have been praised for their efforts at last month’s Anglo-Scottish invitational tournament.
Held at the Tyneside Centre in Newcastle, the two-day event saw Goldie and his teammates compete against opponents from five other regions of Scotland and England. The young Borderers finished sixth overall, with Yorkshire emerging winners and Lothian the runners-up.
A Borders badminton spokesperson said: “Well done to all our players for their hard work and effort over the two days of competition. Once again their behaviour both on and off court was superb and they were a joy for the coaches and team managers to work with.
“Thanks also to all the parents and other family members who turned up to voice their support.”
