Hawick Boxing Club gets its season under way on Tuesday night when boxers resume training with just over seven weeks to go until the Mansfield Park fight night.

The club – which will be hoping to build on the double championship success of last season which saw Jack Purvis win the Scottish novice title and Max Rogerson lift eastern district gold – had its busiest season ever with 40 bouts both north and south of the Border.

Club president Davie Fraser said: “Coaches Gareth Walker and Colin Purvis have revitalised this club, producing two champions with many other lads competing at championship level. We have a wealth of young talent in the gym and I’m looking forward to this season.

“It would be fantastic to see some new youngsters in the gym. And if any parents would like to find out more I would encourage them to come along to any training night to speak to Colin or Gareth and see for themselves what we do.”

Training takes place thrice weekly (Tuesday 6pm-7.30pm, Thursday 7pm-8.30pm and Friday 6pm-7-30pm) at Think Fitness. Training fees are £3 per adult and £1.50 for under-16s. Further information from Gareth Walker on 07834 739994 or Colin Purvis on 218417 / 07495 538739 or on Facebook.
