BRUCE McNeil will captain the South of Scotland side against the Barbarians next month at Mansfield Park.
The powerhouse forward was this week selected to lead the team out for the first ever meeting between the South and the world’s most famous touring team. And the current Greens skipper can’t wait to take the field.
He said: “It is a great honour to be captain for this game, which is sure to be a huge challenge for the South. It will be great for our players to have a match at this level and hopefully we can step up and make a game of it.”
Selkirk’s Fraser Harkness has been appointed vice-captain for the match, which is being staged in aid of the Bill McLaren Foundation.
Last week, former England head coach Brian Ashton accepted an invitation to prepare the Baa-Baas squad for the match on October 11.
