Hawick will kick off their Premiership season at Currie on August 30 before facing three of last year’s top four sides.
The Mansfield Park outfit are also set to take on Heriot’s at home (September 6), Ayr away (September 13), and Gala at home (September 20) in the first month of the new campaign, and Greens forward Bruce McNeil is confident the Robbie Dyes can get off to a winning start.
He told the Hawick News: “It’s hard to predict how seasons will go and how teams will perform at this early stage but this start is not as difficult as some would make you believe.
“I feel a visit to Currie on the opening day of the season will be a great way to get our first win and build some momentum going into a tough stretch against some top sides.”
McNeil admits Hawick’s inconsistency during the 2013/14 campaign saw them dropping points, but has highlighted strong performances against Heriot’s, Gala and Ayr last season as examples of the squad’s potential for improvement.
He continued: “We beat Heriot’s home and away last year and pushed Ayr and Gala right to the end which shows our capabilities.
“We have some talent down here and I think that after last year we can only get better.
“We did suffer inconsistency at certain stages which cost us games and put us under pressure but I think with a good pre-season under our belts and some confidence then I don’t see those team at the start as a major problem.”
