HAWICK: Last Monday night, the ‘B’ team secured a really good XX shots to XX triumph at Gala Abbotsford in the Knockout Plate. Tops for the visitors were A. McCredie, Reece Johnstone, B. Wear and Rob Johnstone (skip).

Last Wednesday, the ‘A’ team enjoyed an emphatic 92 shots to 55 victory over Abbotsford in the Knock Out Cup. Top rink for Hawick comprised A. Oliver, A. Wilson, K. Ford and L. Clarkson (skip).

The ‘B’ team also recorded a comfortable victory last Wednesday night, easing to a 77 shots to 55 triumph at Gala Abbotsford. Top performers for the Teries were D. Johnstone, C. Logan, B. Wear and T. On Saturday, the triple of I. Ford, M. Hogg and E. McGregor came away as champions at the Border Play-offs at Berwick. They beat a very good Melrose trio in the final by 16-14, having firstly seen off Berwick in the semi-finals. All three of the Hawick side played superb bowls in the final. Also in action at Berwick were the Hawick club’s senior four of W. Wells, J. H. Reilly, B. McDonald and G. Lyall, who were defeated 17-11 by a strong Berwick outfit.
Sunday saw 16 pairs contest the Alan Barker Trophy, which was played in a round robin format, and saw E. McGregor and Z. Borthwick claim the spoils once again with victory in the final against F. Willison and A. Wilson. Afterwards, the ladies’ committee served up a good meal that was enjoyed by all.
