Harriers’ big day

THE Teviotdale Harriers annual 10K race and fun run wil come under starters orders on Sunday.

Almost 200 hundred runners of all ages are expected to take part in the runs, which both start just inside the park gates, at 12.30pm and 1pm, respectively.

Approximately 85 take part in the two-mile fun run round the park, past the tennis courts to the Lawrie Bridge, then down the side of the river, finishing at the Common Haugh. And around 90-100 runners participate in the big race, which follows the same route before going to the Walled Gardens, Martin’s Bridge, then turning left into Hawick to St George’s lane, before repeating.

Harriers president Alan Coltman said: “We cater for all ages and running abilities, with a mix from the complete beginner to elite athletes, and all new members are most welcome. A good vantage point on Sunday is the front of the museum to see both races.”

Registration at Volunteer Park from 11am.
