THE high school’s all conquering under-15 girls’ football side is on the shortlist in the school sports category of the 2011 Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards.
Over the last 12 months the hugely talented teenagers have claimed an incredible haul of silverware.
This has included victory in the Midnight League National Fives at Tynecastle; the Scottish Shield at Ainslie Park; The Bank of Scotland Regional Sevens at Ainslie Park; The Bank of Scotland Football Festival at Netherdale; and the Roxburgh Sports Council team of the year award.
Carly Noble, Brogan Anderson and Lauren Mackenzie have also earned caps for Scotland.
Coach Thomas Clark told the Hawick News this week: “For our girls to be nominated for these awards alongside the likes of Andy Murray, John Higgins and Dario Franchitti is simply amazing.
“They’ll be rubbing shoulders with world champions at the awards, but that’s the level their achievements this year puts them on.
“To be sending this team to the awards as national champions is a very special feeling and we’re so proud of every last one of them.”
The girls beat off thousands of nominations and were revealed as finalists in last weekend’s Sunday Mail.
The awards ceremony will take place in the Glasgow Thistle Hotel on Thursday, December 1, and will be televised by STV and broadcast the following Sunday.
