Although lining up with an understrength side, Rovers gained full honours through a good all-round show in this Border Amateur ‘C’ Division encounter.

Michael Moir put the hosts on the winning trail with an early strike on meeting a Jory Robertson lay-off from a Chay Caldwell corner-kick.

Rovers then went further in front when Chay Caldwell cut inside from the wing to shoot into the net.

Bowholm hit back to open their account.

After Sean Clarke had restored Rovers’ two-goal lead, Bowholm cashed in on a mistake by the Teries to reduce the leeway.

Rovers had the last say, however, when Clarke put away his second goal of the match.

Rovers manager Darren McElrath said of the game: “We had a really depleted squad. In fact things were so bad I had to list myself as a substitute. Our starting eleven was strong and these guys went on to do a good job. Considering that we were more or less down to the bare bones, we did very well and it was a good win for us.”
