Waverley marched into the third round of the cup with a convincing away-day victory.

After taking the lead through a Darren Munro counter, Waverley never looked back. Munro grabbed a second when scoring with a header, and Peter Gellaitry then got his name on the scoresheet with a neat finish from an acute angle.

After the changeover, Luke Cooper put Waverley further ahead with a powerful drive that sizzled high into the top corner of the net. It was simply all Waverley and Munro went on to complete his hat-trick with another well-taken goal.

Following a great passing move, Ryan Shepherd hit in a sixth. Gellaitry then netted for a second time as well as bringing an end to the scoring.

Reflecting on his side’s triumph, Waverley captain Taylor Hope said: “Earlston are a third division side but it was still a good win for us, for seven goals is seven goals no matter who you play. We managed to score an early goal and that more or less put the game to bed. It would be good to get a run in the South of Scotland Cup as it’s a big competition and we will certainly be aiming to do this, so here’s hoping”.
