Leithen Rovers 4

Hawick Waverley 0

Facing a Leithen Rovers side who were unbeaten in the Border Amateur ‘A’ Division, Hawick Waverley knew they were taking on a hot handful.

And that’s the way it turned out to be, and although battling hard, Waverley ended up on the wrong end of the result.

The visitors fell behind in the first half when a Rovers man touched the ball home on meeting a shot that had rebounded off the upright.

Just on the interval, the Innerleithen side went further ahead with a headed goal from a free-kick.

Following the changeover, Leithen did the business again in netting a penalty after Peter Gellaitry had brought down an attacker in the box.

Rovers then went four up through a well-hit free kick from the edge of the box.
