Waverley get win at Ancrum

Managerless Waverley emerged from the gloom of a recent lean spell in gaining their second Border Amateur ‘A’ Division win of the season.

With players Neal McConnell and Alan Campbell temporary at the helm of team matters, Waverley broke the deadlock with an early goal through a Jason Inglis header from a well-flighted Luke Cooper cross.

Waverley kept their foot on the gas and Luke Cooper duly slotted away a second.

The remainder of the first half, during which Ancrum missed a penalty, failed to produce any more goals.

Early in the second period Waverley edged further ahead. After a Declan Hogg cross had been pushed away by the Ancrum keeper, the ball fell to Luke Cooper who sent in a cut-back that was headed into the net by Davis Hope.

From here on, Waverley were in control and although not adding to their tally, came close through efforts from Jamie Richardson, Hogg and Liam Gellaitry.
