JED sailed into the lead with just seconds of the game gone, after United defender Ross Wallace failed to clear a long ball down the middle straight from the kick-off, and Fraser Lennox raced in to fire home.

The remainder of the first half was an even affair with both sides having their moments, but there was no addition to the scoring.

After the changeover, the hosts went further ahead when Daniel Chandler stuck away a Lennox cut-back.

Jed were now in the driving seat and Daniel Gillie put the issue beyond doubt in rattling away a pass from his brother Nathan.

Giving his views on the game, United’s Ross Wallace said: “The first half was fairly even, but we lost an early goal thanks to a mistake by myself, and we also missed some good scoring chances.

“After Jed scored their second goal our heads went down, and we were fighting a losing battle.

“I was quite impressed with Jed, and their two young guys up front caused us problems. They were pretty sound at the back as well.

“We’ve now dropped a few places with us losing, but we’ll just have to pick ourselves up.”
