Young footballers have raised more than £1,000 towards new training kit by taking part in a triathlon.

Eleven players from the Hawick Youth under-15 team together cycled 31km, swam half a mile, and ran 26 miles during a breathless three hours at Teviotdale Leisure Centre. Jordan Gracie, who coaches the team alongside Michael McEwan, said: “The new training kit will mean the team is a lot better-organised and will encourage more boys to come to training because it will feel more professional.” The team would like to thank all sponsors and the leisure centre for their help, especially Martin Wooley, the head of the gym, who dedicated time to helping stage the event
