Rovers opened the scoring in this Forsyth Cup encounter when Michael Moir headed home a Jory Robertson corner kick.

Two minutes later Rovers added another when Chay Caldwell floated over a corner kick and Moir doubled his tally with another header.

Rovers’ Sean Clarke then stuck away a third before the interval with a well struck shot.

After pulling a goal back, Earlston were awarded a penalty which was saved by Rovers keeper Kevan Miller. A Rhymers man was on hand however to convert the rebound. Earlston were now back in the picture but Rovers held on to gain victory.

Rover’s manager, Darren McElrath said: “We started off very well in scoring three goals. However, we let Earlston back in and it was all hands on deck at the finish. Overall we played well though and it was a good win as Earlston are a league above us.”
