Having suffered a big defeat at the hands of Peebles earlier in the season, Legion Rovers gained sweet revenge thanks to a five-star show in Saturday’s Border Amateur ‘C’ Division match.

Firing on all cylinders from the start, Rovers took the lead on the quarter-hour mark. After latching onto a fine through ball from Aidan Reilly, Michael Moir raced forward before waltzing round the Peebles keeper and shoot home.

Showing character as well as playing good football, Rovers dominated the remainder of the first half and sailed further ahead through a gem of a goal from Jordan Caldwell who found the roof of the net with a raging 30-yard drive.

After having a player sent off, Peebles opened their account. But Rovers continued to rule the roost to record a more than worthy win.

Expressing his thoughts on the match, Rovers team boss Alex Caldwell said: “Peebles beat us 5-0 at Peebles and that hurt, so we were really up for this game.

“We played five in the middle of the park and this worked for us. We were the better side by far throughout the game. Everybody played well and it was a great team performance.”
