Four goals from striker Sean Clarke helped Rovers to an emphatic victory in this Border Amateur ‘C’ Division clash, writes Ronan Alexander.

Clarke bagged his first after 16 minutes with a neat finish past the Selkirk keeper, and soon found the net again to double Rovers’ lead. Mikey Moir made it three, latching onto a through ball from John Shankie before rounding the visitors’ goalie.

Just before half-time, Clarke completed his hat-trick when getting the better of the Selkirk custodian in a one-on-one.

Two almost identical goals came in the 63rd and 65th minute when two Jordan Caldwell long throw-ins were nodded home by Clarke and Moir to make it 6-0. Selkirk reduced the leeway on the 75-minute mark thorough Miguel Castillo, but Rovers were far from finished and sub Euan Gray notched two quick goals, after which a Shankie cross was turned into the Selkirk net by one of their players to make it 9-1.

Castillo hit the target again but an impressive Rovers were comfortable victors.
