Hawick Legion and Hawick Legion Rovers have their sights set on maintaining their push for silverware.

Today (Saturday), Legion, who are bidding for title honours and promotion, are in ‘B’ Divison action at home to Linton Hotspur.

Long-serving Legion player Davie Fraser told us: “We’re top of the league on goal average at the moment, and have four games left against Linton Hotspur, Chirnside United and a double-header with Tweeddale Rovers.

“If we win these four games we’ll be in with a real shout of being league champions as well as having gained promotion.

“We’ve had an excellent season so far and hopefully it could get even better.”

Legion Rovers lock horns with Gala Hotspur in the quarter-final of the Forsyth Cup, at home.

Commenting on this clash, Rovers manager Darren McElrath said: “Gala Hotspur are a league above us so it will be a tough game.

“If we play as a team we can do the job against Gala, though.

“We’ve played well in the other cups we have competed in this season and reached a final only to be beaten in extra time by Tweedmouth Amateurs.

“The boys were gutted about this but enjoyed the experience of playing in a cup final, so here’s hoping we can go on to reach another, and win it this time.”
