Hawick Royal Albert and Hawick Waverley are both aiming to kick-start their campaigns tomorrow as action resumes on the football scene after the festive break, writes John Slorance.
Royalists and Waverley are mired in the lower reaches of their respective leagues, and although beginning the seasonwith an excellent win over Newton Stewart in the Scottish Cup, the Albert have struggled since then and really need to start putting more points on the board.
For Waverley, it’s been a nightmarish season with nothing going right for the Wilton Lodge Park outfit.Following a short reign, Paul Brownlee quit his post as Waverley manager, with Neal McConnell recently taking up the role as team boss and Alan Campbell his assistant. The latter pair have a wealth of experience and will be looking to turn matters around.
On the other side of the coin, United sit joint second in the ‘B’ Division and are top scorers in their league with 44 goals. Also hitting the high spots are Legion who share second spot with the Tangerines but with three games in hand, while Legion Rovers have emerged a surprise package this season after reaching a cup final and are in third place in the ‘C’ Division.
