Hawick lose out in battle of Legions

HAWICK Legion ended up on the wrong end of the result in Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash at Jed Legion.

During an evenly-fought first half in which most of the action was confined to midfield, Hawick came near to breaking the deadlock through a Sean Wilson shot that appeared net-bound until being deflected found the post by a Jed defender.

The home side, in turn, took the lead a few minutes before the interval with their centre-half doing the damage by heading home a free-kick.

Following the changeover, Jed added to their tally with what was a carbon copy of their opening goal.

After the Jed keeper had excelled in pulling off top-drawer saves from Chris Brown and Stevie Lowe headers, the home side wrapped up matters by notching a third.

Hawick Legion player David Fraser said of the match:
